Remove any add-ons your anti-virus software may have installed in Thunderbird. To prevent data loss in the future, follow these recommendations wrt anti-virus software:Ĭreate an exception in your anti-virus software for the Thunderbird profile folder, so that the anti-virus real-time scanner will not scan it.ĭon't let your anti-virus software scan incoming and outgoing messages.ĭon't let your anti-virus software scan attachments.ĭon't let your anti-virus software intercept your secure connection to the server. Cleaning up the corruption resulted in a 25 MB Inbox and lost messages. The most likely culprit is anti-virus software. My older emails disappeared from the inbox of my new laptop - even though my inbox is only 25Mbs in size. Letting the Inbox grow to 2 GB is asking for trouble.
